Vacation Links and Goings On
Some content to keep you company until I return.
I’m on vacation this week in the Alps, of all places, but you can still get radically moderate content from a couple other outlets. I’ll return next week.
I have a piece in Discourse Magazine this week on the erasure of the middle class in American politics. The false binaries we’re fed are largely coming from elites, who gain political power by keeping us fractured. But political theorists have long known that the real stability, strength, and long-term growth of any society comes, not from elites at all, but from the middle class. You can read it here:
Most of you know that I also have a podcast We Made This Political with my co-host . We have two episodes this week. The first dropped Monday with
, executive director of the Mercatus Center, where we talk about pluralism, raising pluralistic kids, his experiences navigating pluralism in his own life, and what led him to start the Program on Pluralism (where I am winding down my year as a Pluralism Fellow). This was one of my favorite episodes to record because he brings a deep humanism to everything we talk about. Chatting with Ben is always such a joy and this is a great option if you need something soothing this week. You can listen here:The second episode we’re dropping this week is a special one we’re sending out early for July 4th on what it means to be a patriot in the chaos and divisiveness of 2025. Finally, I’d love to hear from readers on two topics. The first is about content for future posts. Click or leave a quick comment if you’d like to hear more on any particular topic. I’d also love to hear from you about the length and frequency of posts.
